Challenge #82 - Watercolours

Hello and welcome to The Male Room.  Before we get on to the new challenge I have some news to share. Our very talented and artistic DT member Cathy has needed to step down from the DT team so this will be her last challenge with us.  We're all very sorry to see her go and have really enjoyed working alongside her, but we understand that life sometimes gets in the way. We wish Cathy all the best for whatever her future brings.

But the flip side to this news is that we're welcoming Crafty Linby to the team and are really looking forward to having her on board. She'll be joining in from the next challenge, but in the meantime, you can check out her wonderful style on her blog HERE.

She's written a little introduction about herself to whet your appetites.

I'm Lynn known as Linby in blogland to distinguish me from all the other Lynn's! A combo of my first name and first letter of my surname and also a village close to where I live.
I've always made things, mainly dressmaking, followed by cross stitching and then in 1990 I went to a Craft show and saw heat embossing and loved you could colour in and not go over the lines - so began my card making. Once I had stumbled into blogland in 2009 my work improved and the challenges have helped me expand my boundaries and techniques. A fashionista at heart since I discovered The Male Room male cards are becoming more frequently made by me. I am absolutely thrilled to now be on the DT and hope to inspire others to make more Male cards.

And now on to the new challenge. We're looking for watercolours to be included somewhere in your masculine project. Is this tricky? Well, I'm sure you'll all rise to the challenge!

We have the very talented and artistic Sonja from oldpunca joining us as our Guest Designer for the next fortnight. A visit to her colourful and inspirational blog is definitely going to get you drooling, so please make time and go visit her.  And maybe leave her a lovely comment while you're there too!

You have until midnight (BST) Tuesday 10th April, that's 7.00pm EDT in the States.

Can't wait to see how you include watercolours in your project!

Winners Challenge #80 - Re-Cycle

It's time to announce the winners of our last challenge - #80 Re-Cycle.

A huge thanks to everyone who joined in the fun. There were some really fabulous projects and we were impressed by the re-cyled items that found their way into your craft rooms.

But there can only be one winner, so here is our pick:

WINNER

Such an amzing makeover using a tin and leather belt bought from thrift shops. This was exactly the type of re-cycled project that we had in mind when setting this challenge and we were super impressed.

Congratulations Judy!

Great use of re-cycled labels, jeans and red wire Poli. Perfect card for a guy.

We loved the use of the netting from a pack of oranges and the inclusion of the glue tape backing was a fabulous touch.

I obviously need to examine junk mail more carefully, who would have thought it would contain such wonderful envelope lining papers. Totally bowled over by this card Jane.

Brilliant use of an old envelope and packaging by Linby and the perfect colours for a coffee themed card.

Congratulations to you all.

Please pick up a winners badge from the sidebar to display on your blogs.

Before I go just a quick reminder about our current challenge #81 Space/Science

You've got until midnight Tuesday 27th March to join in the fun (that's 7.00pm EDT).

Challenge #81 - Space/Science

It's time for a new challenge here at The Male Room. And I'm thinking this time it will be quite a fun and easy theme. There's even a choice of subjects to help you along. So it could be space or it could be science or maybe even a combination of both that gets your creative mojo going.

We have a super Guest Designer joining us for this challenge - Lynda from Lynda's Crafty Hall.  She has the most amazing blog with multimedia and vibrantly colourful creations that are an absolute delight. You just have to make time to go pay her a visit!

For her Guest Design spot she couldn't make her mind up which way to go, so she made two cards, one for each of the words in the theme. Both full of colour and totally fabulous!

Science or magic? Her card is a clever blend.

And who could resist this blast of space fantasy with its terrific comic book look.

Of course, The Male Room DT's have also been totally inspired by this theme and have pulled out all the stops to get you fired up and ready to join in.
